To achieve this, I encourage individuals to visit the clinic at least once every three months, rather than the traditional six months or once a year that insurance companies may cover. Bacteria that cause decay and periodontal disease develop at an alarmingly fast rate, often returning within 55 to 75 days of a cleaning. Therefore, it is essential to visit for cleanings and bring the keys for cleanings at least every three to four months to keep your mouth in top shape.

Secondly, it is essential to identify the type of enamel present in your teeth. If the enamel is soft, individuals must take extra care with products that contain acid, such as juices, limes, lemons, and other items. Acid can dissolve the enamel, making it softer, which in turn leads to more rapid decay. Additionally, individuals should have a set of x-rays done every year to check their teeth and ensure there are no cavities between the teeth. These cavities are often difficult to detect during a regular dental exam. Therefore, those with large restorations or fillings should have x-rays taken to detect any decay between their teeth.
