Many molars have three or four roots, but standard X-rays often provide an overlapping view, making it impossible to see individual root infections. A 3D scan allows us to view a precise three-dimensional projection, ensuring we catch infections that would otherwise go undiagnosed.

Identifying Cavitations and Post-Extraction Infections

Cavitations—areas of infected bone left behind after tooth extractions—are another issue that cannot be detected with traditional X-rays. These infections commonly develop in locations where wisdom teeth were removed. With a 3D scan, we can pinpoint these problematic areas and address them effectively.

Additionally, 3D imaging is essential for assessing sinus health. If an infection is present inside the sinuses or if a dental infection is spreading into the sinus cavity, a regular PA X-ray will not detect it. A 3D scan, however, provides a comprehensive view, ensuring that no infection goes unnoticed.
